Livonia, Mich. – Sept. 21, 2007 – Exposing the gap between average and excellent. That is the mission of the Quicken Loans blog – “What’s the DIFF?” Quicken Loans has set out to uncover the people and places that go the extra mile to really make a difference by launching “The DIFF blog” at http://www.whatsthediff.com. This is not the typical mortgage blog, focusing on home loans and financial matters, but instead an employee-generated blog highlighting the difference between average and excellence in all aspects of life, as well as the people and ideas that serve as their inspiration.
“The culture at Quicken Loans celebrates those who make a difference and find ways to go beyond where others fall short. ‘The DIFF’ provides a glimpse inside our world, while also celebrating other companies that share a similar commitment to going above and beyond,” said Clayton Closson, Quicken Loans website content manager and DIFF webmaster. “We’ve had 75,000 page views with readers from across the country and even some from places like South Africa and Australia.”
The DIFF blog, which won a Standard of Excellence WebAward from the Web Marketing Association, was inspired by Quicken Loans employees who say that “the ability to make a difference” is one of the biggest keys to their job satisfaction. It is also one of the reasons the company’s culture has made Quicken Loans a top-20 company on Fortune’s “Best Places to Work” list the plast four years, and #1 on Computerworld’s “Best Places to Work in Technology” list for three consecutive years.
The Quicken Loans blog is hosted by Quicken Loans employees, and contributors are both Quicken Loans staff and others who send in an occasional story. Blogging categories include Customer Service, Doing it Right, Doing it Wrong, Getting Inspired, Inside QL (Quicken Loans) and Making a Difference.
“What’s the DIFF?” also gives Quicken Loans’ recruiting campaign, also named “The DIFF,” an online presence. It offers people outside the company a better feel for the company’s unique culture and what team members believe in.
